For the third year in a row, Washington D.C. ranked last on All State’s list.  According to the survey, the average resident of D.C. is involved in a car accident every five years.  In addition, D.C. residents are 95 percent more likely to be in an accident than the average American driver.

Fort Collins, Colorado ranked first with the country’s best drivers.  The average Ft. Collins resident is in an auto accident every 14 and a half years.

The 61-year-old woman died after being flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to a state police press release.

The woman was riding as a passenger, along with another 61-year-old woman, in a Nissan Altima driven by a 51-year-old man.  Police have determined that the Altima was headed east on I-70 around 2:15 AM Sunday when it collided with a Volkswagen Jetta being driven by a 24-year-old woman.

The 51-year-old man did not sustain any injuries, but his other passenger was well as the 24-year-old woman were both sent to local hospitals. The two of them remain in critical condition.

The suit was against Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and two other doctors that cared for her during her visits. The woman filing the suit was working at the hospital during the time of the surgery.  She claimed that the physicians did not properly diagnose her or treat her for kidney stones which caused a blockage in her ureter.

The woman went to the hospital complaining of abdominal pain that went down to her groin, the doctor gave her pain medication and fluids, and she was released later that day. She returned to the hospital a few days later with more severe symptoms and was diagnosed with inflammation of the gallbladder.

Twelve hours later a doctor figured out the real issue, the blockage to her ureter.  During her recovery period she became infected with gangrene, which then caused her leg and foot the be amputated.

The 43-year-old woman was riding on the motorcycle with her husband when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The motorcycle then collided with an oncoming SUV.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews and her 45-year-old husband was taken to the hospital, but there is no information on his condition.

Motorcycle accidents can happen very unexpectedly and injure all involved, our condolences are with the friends and family of the victim.

The fire department came with all its bells and whistles but, at a certain point, their efforts went from rescue to recovery. They realized there was no way they could get this man out alive. Captain Payne, head of the operation, spoke with WJZ, saying, “[The trench] was 15 feet long, five feet wide and between six and eight feet deep.  It wasn’t shored.”

The man was reportedly blue, but there was nothing for the rescuers to do until they could shore the trench. By the time they removed the man, it was too late. According to WJZ, “The man died as family members watched helplessly.”

Marlyand’s OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) is still investigating the accident.

While heading east, Mohl suddenly swerved her Nissan Altima into westbound lanes, crashing head-on into another vehicle. According to the Delmarva Media Group, “the Chevrolet truck [was] driven by Charles Cave Sr., 61.” Charles Cave was transporting a 12-year-old passenger, Demetrius Price.

Both drivers and passengers were injured in the crash. The Delmarva Media Group reports that, “Police said Mohl sustained severe head trauma and was taken to Nanticoke Hospital where she died.”

22-year-old Charles Mitchell IV, the driver of the Silverado, was uninjured. Hammond went to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Emergency Room, according to the Dundalk Eagle. Her injuries were not life-threatening.

The Eagle reports that authorities have determined that Mitchell was at fault. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet.

While police did not release details about what caused the accident, a car and a sports utility vehicle crashed at the intersection. When medical officials arrived to the scene of the car accident, two people were transported to a nearby hospital, where one was later pronounced dead.

The alleged drunk driver apparently lost control of his vehicle and hit a wall on the side of the highway, causing the passenger to be ejected from the vehicle. When medical officials arrived, the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The councilman apparently attempted to turn left when he hit another car. When medical officials arrived, neither driver was injured nor received a ticket.
