Baltimore No-Zone Accident Attorneys

As most drivers are undoubtedly aware, there are certain blind spots around cars and trucks with which they must be extra careful. This also applies to commercial trucks. Due to the size and shape of semi trucks and 18-wheelers, however, the blind spots are much larger and more difficult to avoid. These extra-large blind spots are called no-zones.

Although all car drivers should avoid no-zones when possible, some accidents in these areas are caused by careless truck drivers. If you have been hurt in a no-zone accident, you may be eligible for financial compensation to help with your recovery. To discuss the facts of your case, contact a Baltimore no-zone accident lawyer from Belsky, Weinberg & Horowitz, LLC, today at 410-234-0100.

What are No-Zones?

Because the cab of a semi truck or 18-wheeler is so high and the cargo is usually long, the blind spots of these trucks are typically quite large. Unfortunately, trucks simply cannot have mirrors big enough to cover all of the potential blind spots. Thus, they will often post signs warning other drivers to only drive where they can see the truck’s side mirrors so that the truck driver can spot them.

No-Zone Areas

There are four main no-zones surrounding a large transport truck. These include:

  • Front – immediately in front of the engine where a truck driver cannot see over the hood
  • Back – immediately behind the cargo where the mirrors do not reach
  • Left side – a wedge extending from the junction of the cab and cargo out to the left side
  • Right side – the largest no zone, which reaches from the right front of the vehicle down past the juncture of the cab and cargo and out to the right side

Right no-zones are especially hazardous because a car can become trapped there when a truck attempts to make a right turn.
