Cerebral Palsy : Diagnosing Cerebral Palsy
Diagnosing Cerebral Palsy is process that can be lengthy. Doctors will start by examining the patient and checking for early symptoms of Cerebral Palsy. Other movement disorders must be first ruled out. Doctors will make sure the symptoms are not progressing or worsening as Cerebral Palsy is not a progressive disease. Doctors are then likely to suggest tests that will scan the brain and check for abnormalities or undeveloped brain tissue, tests such as a CT scan or MRI. Reviewing the pregnancy, labor and delivery are also helpful in trying to establish whether or not Cerebral Palsy is the official diagnosis.
